    Yonex Welsh International 2011 – A preview

    The first weekend of December marks the start of the festive season and 2011’s annual Yonex Welsh International hosted in Wales’s capital city, Cardiff. This year the International boasts players from 16 countries around the world including Sweden, Malaysia, India and New Zealand. Players ranked as high as 40 in the world will be battling it out for the Welsh titles. Top seeds in the singles category are Ragna Ingolfsdottir (pictured) of Iceland and Niluka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka.

    Locals Matthew Hughes and Martyn Lewis will be back on court competing at this year’s tournament on home soil, looking to regain their Welsh International Men's Doubles crown which they won back in 2006. Other Welsh Senior players who will be out in force showcasing their determination and pride, seeded 7 in the Ladies Singles Sarah Thomas will be heading the Ladies attack and also seeded 4 in the Ladies Doubles she joins forces with Carissa Turner. Lewis, Hughes, Thomas and Turner will start their campaign this weekend and joining them will be fellow senior players as well as our up and coming talented youngsters. The World Fastest Racket sport comes to Cardiff’s SWNC from 1st December- 4th December 2011.
