Tsung Fong Mo took the silver medal in the U17 Gold Star boys’ singles event this weekend at Cwmbran Stadium Sports Centre. Unseeded Mo won his group defeating 3rd seed Sean Chal 21-13 22-20. He then went on to face 2nd seed Luke Pierce in the semi-final and after a good performance Mo came out on top winning 18-21, 21-14, 21-16. Onto the final where he faced 1st seed Ross Green from Hampshire. Green took the title, winning in 2 sets 21-6, 21-19.
Kirby Ngan won the U17 girls singles Gold Star and Lara Molly picked up the U17 girls singles title. Nathan Rossiter edged out Alex Mitchell in the final of the boys singles. 3 close games decided the tie with Nathan winning 21-9, 16-21, 21-17.
Onto the mixed doubles where Kyle Cherry and Evie Burbridge overcame top seeds Sam Lyle and Libby McMorrow 21-15, 21-18. Kirby Ngan added a second title partnering Libby McMorrow to beat Stephanie Dawid-Paluch and Evie Burbridge 21-16, 21-18. The boys’ doubles event was won by Kyle Cherry and Luke Pierce with Alex Mitchell and George Priestman picking up the silver medal.
