Glasgow 2014 Draw

Wales were handed a tough but stimulating draw in the team event yesterday being placed in pool D with Australia, Canada and the Falkland Islands. The two Oceanic countries are seeded 7th and 8th, just one above Wales. Historically, matches between the three have been tight affairs and these promise to deliver of the same. The positive aspect of the scheduling means that Wales will play Australia and Canada in succession so there will be no respite after match 1 which takes place at 2pm on the 4th with the Canada match at 9am on the 5th. The Welsh players will need to be on top form but they will know that they can be competitive in both of these matches and so will be looking forward to the encounters.

The individual draws are always a mixed bag for all players with Joe Morgan and Nic Strange finding themselves against the number 3 seeds from Singapore and Oliver Gwilt and Sarah Thomas against a tough New Zealand pairing. Other players have easier first round matches and could progress through the rounds.
