Commonwealth Themed Event at Fitzalan High School

On Thursday 20th March 2014 two Commonwealth hopefuls, Dan Font and Oliver Gwilt, attended Fitzalan High School for a Commonwealth themed event. 18 pupils from the school attended the event where they had the opportunity to play badminton against the pair. The children thoroughly enjoyed playing against Dan and Oliver. The two demonstrated a high level of play which will have hopefully inspired the pupils to attend the badminton club running every Thursday lunchtime at the school.

One pupil commented, "WOW!! I didn't realise that a shuttlecock could travel that fast!" Whilst another pupil said, "They make it look so easy; I wish I could play like that."

The event run in partnership with Sport Cardiff  and was part of a Commonwealth themed events program which gives the children the opportunity to trial Commonwealth sports. Badminton Wales and Sport Cardiff would like to take this opportunity to thank Dan and Oliver for taking the time out of their busy training schedule to attend this event.  A badminton session will now run every Thursday lunchtime in the school sports hall as part of the Commonwealth legacy program.
