 Sports Leaders Senedd

Badminton Wales was delighted to accept an invitation to attend a day at the Senedd to celebrate the success of the Leadership award designed by Sports Leaders UK. Badminton Wales was the first sport to deliver Leadership in Wales and has now qualified over 300 young leaders in the schools over a 4 year period.

Eddie O’Neill, Laura Morgan and Angela Stevens manned the Badminton Wales stand and were delighted to welcome Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, who dropped by for a brief chat.

Eddie O’Neill commented,

“Sports Leaders have been a tremendous vehicle for the good of sport in schools, facilitating opportunities for young people to show leadership skills which has, without doubt, helped to make badminton the second biggest participant sport in Welsh schools. What I really liked was the kudos given to the day by the appearance of the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, and the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, who made sure that all of the exhibiting sports and local authorities were made to feel special.

Big thanks also to AM Janice Gregory who sponsored the day; there was certainly a post event feel-good factor for those who attended.”
