10 new players enjoyed the first ever “Getting Started" course at the National Centre last weekend. Getting Started is one of three new courses under the banner of “6 + six” which Badminton Wales has designed to help people learn how to play Badminton and how to improve.
Coach Cath McClusky reports,
“Badminton Wales has just completed their first ‘Getting Started’ course with novice players wanting to know more about the game of badminton in order to improve themselves, but also to pass key points onto friends. All of the players started with great enthusiasm and high energy levels, as the day went on energy was sapped but spirits remained high. The players showed improvements over the course of the day whether it was their serve, forecourt movement, scoring and/or positioning on court; there is always so much I want to do with coaching new players but the key is to focus on those you are delivering to and tailor it to their needs. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the group and wish them luck with badminton in the future."
All of the players have been introduced to the basics of badminton in a whistle stop tour but have all signed up to continue learning the game on the 6 week ‘Getting Better’ course due to start on Oct 8th.
Badminton Wales will be running another ‘Getting Started’ course on Saturday 7 December 2014. If you are interested in this please contact .
All of the BW development team will be delivering “6 + six" posters to the Welsh leisure centres this week so we anticipate a demand for this great product.
