UK School Games


The UK School Games is a large annual multi-sport event for the UK's elite young athletes of school age. The sports are combined into a four-day Games environment designed to replicate the feel of a major event such as the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

Welfare Team

The welfare team is an integral part of the Games, with the event demonstrating the highest level of child protection and welfare systems. In 2011 the Games are being held in the Sheffield, and we are looking for volunteers to take on the role of Welfare Co-ordinator and Welfare Officer for badminton.

The Welfare Officer and Co-ordinator will work alongside the Welfare Manager for the Games and will receive a range of benefits, including:

• Training
• UK School Games branded kit: 2 polo shirts and a hoody
• The support of a mentor who has previous experience of the Games
• Food and accommodation while at the Games
• Expenses will be paid, as will a small honorarium.

The roles are ideal for someone who has experience of child welfare, such as a counsellor or teacher, or has experience of safeguarding and child protection through working as a child protection officer in a sports club. Role descriptions and person specifications can be viewed below.
